Job Description  

The Sales Lead is responsible for driving sales growth with new and existing customers within SOCOM and potentially other territories (e.g., U.S. Navy, Army Material Command, Foreign Military Sales (FMS)) depending on background. They can build off existing relationships and break new ground with our fast-growing product and large market. The Sales Lead will become an expert in StartGuides’ sales process, briefing company products to customers, and gaining customer feedback that supports product development. They will also become knowledgeable in app distribution, security, and technology to support StartGuides’ sales. 

Responsibilities

Essential Skills & Job Functions 

  • Excellent verbal communicator, capable of engaging audiences. Needs to show an understanding of the audience and an ability to tailor discussion points to meet the needs of the audience. 
  • Responsible for driving core product sales throughout SOCOM and other territories. 
  • Leads and augments sales calls and engagements; travels to and participates in industry trade shows; travels with operations teams to customer site visits; and travels to view systems as part of the pricing development process. 
  • Responsible for developing and briefing company leadership on your plan to achieve sales goals and providing monthly updates detailing progress. 
  • Use company-provided sales tools to track and manage sales pipeline, customers, customer engagements, and follow-ups. 
  • Reviews and analyzes sales data to project new sales and identify new potential markets and customers. 
  • Coordinates with operations and technology teams to determine viability of customer requests for Research & Development; participates in operations syncs to maintain understanding of product capabilities and limitations. Lead sales to operations handoff briefs. 
  • Participates in product pricing development and offers pricing recommendations based on customer feedback. 

Required Skills

Work authorization/security clearance requirements  

Must be able to legally work in the United States. Verification will be required to process I-9. Must pass company-sponsored commercial background check and meet eligibility criteria to support U.S. Federal Government contracts. Security clearance is beneficial but not required.  

Preferred Skills

Desired skills and experience 

  • Military experience, specifically SOCOM experience highly preferred. 
  • 3-5 years in DoD sales preferred. 
  • Experience in government contracting and acquisitions is helpful. 
  • Outstanding attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products. 
  • Demonstrated ability and strong desire to learn new systems and technology. 
  • Entrepreneurial mindset – excited by the prospect of helping grow a great business. 

Physical Requirements

Work environment 

Remote, work-from-home schedule. Physical demands include: 

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with users, both verbally and through writing. 
  • Use a computer, tablets and phones for extended periods, sitting or standing. 
  • Communicate by remote collaboration platform (MS Teams), and type on a keyboard. 
  • May be required to lift up to 40 pounds and climb on and off military equipment in austere conditions. 

Travel requirements 

Monthly travel typically consists of 8-12 days per month. Destinations vary and will include military installations across the continental United States and OCONUS locations.
