Technical Illustrator - Adobe Illustrator Expert

Job Description

Under the direction of an assigned Business Unit Director & App Designer, the Illustrator uses company provided InDesign templates and design standards to create beautiful illustrations that meet StartGuides style guidelines. These illustrations are a crucial part of our app branding. Working together with the User Interface and Design team, the Illustrator uses images to create illustrations that we use in our Apps.

Reports to: Product Manager (PM)

Responsibilities

Create beautiful vector illustrations that meet style guidelines.
Create drawings that duplicate our established color, style, and drawing techniques to effectively blend with the established team.
Support assigned team and their development efforts.
Support other Graphic Design tasks as requested.
Execute assigned tasks in accordance with timeline.

Required Skills

Minimum of 2 years of work experience and 3 years of experience using Adobe Illustrator CC.
Excellent communication skills, be responsive and engaged, and be able to take direction.
Ability to work in a Product Team environment, providing relevant and clear feedback.
Follow company’s branding styles and templated standards.
Ability to take directions, have confidence to present your ideas, and be detail oriented.
Must be able to legally work in the United States. Verification will be required to process 1-9.
Must pass company-sponsored commercial background check and meet eligibility criteria to support U.S. Federal Government contracts.
Security clearance beneficial but not required.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Adobe Photoshop.
Mechanical aptitude (the ability to look at a simple picture and understand what the parts do).
Remote, work-from-home schedule.
Flexible work schedule.

Qualifications

Candidates will be initially chosen based upon evaluation of their portfolio of Adobe Illustrator/vector illustration work.

First-round qualifiers will be asked to do a skills test. This test involves doing a small illustration to assess skill, speed, and ability to follow instructions to duplicate our established techniques. We will be compensate you for up to 4 hours at a negotiated hourly rate for this test.

Please include samples of illustration (not design) work created with Adobe Illustrator with your response.

Responses without Adobe Illustrator work samples will not be considered. Photoshop experience is not relevant to this work.
